The ST. JOHN AMBULANCE has been establLshed for 14 years in Kuching High School since 1971. This year, it's encouraging to sr that more Transition and Form one students are joining the activiti s and we have a total membership of around 100 at present.
Our weekly meetings are held every Saturday afternoon, members are mainly briefed on first-aid and nursing as well as proficiency subjects such as camping and history of St. John Ambulance are also being conducted.
During Hari Gawai holiday, a 3-day training camp was organised for our members at Matang and for the 6th Uniform Unit Combined Camp, we are going to sent 16 members to participate.
Services are always a part of our activities. From the begin¬ning of the year, we have rendered first-aid services during the volley-ball competition, joggerthon organised by the Ex-Highians Association, annual school sports meet as well as Inter Secondary School Sports meet. In school, our members also cup a St. John's Room to help those who are not feeling well.Other than duties,we also participated in the various activities organised for the Teacher's Day Celebration such as telematch competition and dancing.
This year, we are glad that our headquater has organised various training which will benefit all the members such as footdrill training And leadership training course. Apart from the training, we also have our welfare services and community work from time to time.
For the World Youth Day, our unit also sent a contigent to participate in the parade held in Central Padang on 9th May as well as the tele¬match competition for the celebration. We also too part in the parade to welcome the Yang Dipertuan Agung at the Kuching International Airport on 23rd June. This year we had a good collection in the Flag Day Fund Raising Project and our division came up to be the top in the Fund Raising Competition held by the headquarters. Here, we also like to thank our headquarter for their constant assistance given to our division.
To conclude, on behalf of our members, I would like to take this opportunity to egress our sincere thanks to our patron Mr. Wong, corp-supertendent Mr. Poon, advisors Mr. Chong and Mr. Lau, teacher-in-charge Mr. Yeo, officer Mr. Tan for their valuable guidance and constant help rendered which have made our division a big success. Lastly to all members, keep up the ST. JOHN'S SPIRIT "-For the Faith" and "For The Services of mankind."
