晋中科学室、储藏室、圣约翰救伤队活动室、红新月会活动室一瞬间化为乌有。

Our Division consists of over 70 members, comprising 3 Troops, each under a troop leader. We hold weekly meetings during which First-aid, Foot-drill, etc. are taught to the members.

Our Cadet and Adult Division came second in the First Aid Competition organized by the Headquarter in April, and we came first in the footdrill during the St. John Ambulance Sarawak Anniversary Parade. We also came first and second in poster competition organized by the Headquarter in June. In Oct. , we sent two cadets to Penang to participate in the National Cadet Training Camp.

Lastly, onbehalf of the Division, I would like to thank our Patron, Mr. Ng, and all others who have assisted us one way or another.

High praise for St John’s first cadet division

KUCHING: The 1st Cadet Combined Division St John Ambulance (SJA) Sarawak held its 42nd annual inspection at SMK Kuching High yesterday.SMK Kuching High principal Phang Chun Yaw congratulated SJA for achievements, stating that 42 years prior to its formation, SJA was relatively unknown to Sarawak.“The first division was set up in SMK Kuching High, hence it’s the first cadet combined division,” he said in his speech.He mentioned that the SJA was the most active in extra-curricular activity (ECA) in the school.He also commended the cadets who are active participants, especially in the field of first aid.He also praised the voluntary spirit of the school’s cadets who would be attached to the General Hospital (GH) to help out when GH staff are on leave during festive seasons.He explained that besides first aid, they are also responsible for organising first aid, nursing and marching training.Chairman and Commander of SJA Dato Sri Ang Lai Soon who attended the inspection yesterday, said he had followed the progress of SMK Kuching High and commended the school’s excellence in fund-raising events.“I hope more academic staff in the country will follow Mr Phang’s example and take greater interest in the ECA of their schools,” he added.He said an interest in ECA will integrate more discipline in the students.He also encouraged schools to incorporate good values in students, citing courtesy for one.He hoped all officers and members in SJA will continue to put into practice the training they received into their daily lives as much as they can.Read more: http://www.theborneopost.com/2013/07/14/high-praise-for-st-johns-first-cadet-division/#ixzz2Z4nMUPtS

Put skills and knowledge into practice - SJA chairman

KUCHING: Members of St. John Ambulance are urged to put into practice the skills and knowledge they gained in trainings.The call came from Founder of St. John Ambulance (SJA) Sarawak, Dato Sri Ang Lai Soon who is also the chairman and commander of the organisation.Speaking at the 42nd Annual Inspection of SMK Kuching High St. John Ambulance unit at SMK Kuching High here yesterday, Ang pointed out that the SJA members, who have learned the necessary skills and knowledge should make use of what they learned to help the needy regardless of their background or status.Ang also urged the SJA members to be courteous to others at all times, harmonious with others, appreciative of the hard work and sacrifices of their parents; in short, “pick up the good things and discard all the bad things.”At the function, he commended SMK Kuching High unit for being very active in organising all its activities and expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation given by the school.Meanwhile, Principal of SMK Kuching High, Phang Chun Yaw, earlier said the school’s St. John Ambulance Sarawak was the first cadet combined division to be set up in schools in Sarawak and is one of the most active combined units. He congratulated the SJA members and urged them to continue enjoying their stint in SJA and continue to render their services to the society.A pledge of service was later made by members of the unit to Ang who also presented a certificate of appreciation to the school. The school also presented a souvenir to Ang at the function.

洪来顺：服务表现卓越晋中圣约翰救伤队棒

(本报古晋13日讯)砂拉越圣约翰救伤队主席兼指挥官拿督斯里洪来顺指出，该救伤队积极培训队员的纪律精神，塑造他们的品格及领导能力，使得队员离开校园后有望成为社会的领导人物，成年会员更透过活跃参与各项活动，开拓及建立人际关系。拿督斯里洪来顺是于今早古晋中学圣约翰救伤队42周年检阅仪式上，受邀致词时，如是表示。拥基本急救能力他强调，穿上制服的队员皆拥有基础的急救能力，以及纪律精神，虽不是专业的医护人员，往往在关键时刻，可以发挥重要作用。同时，他强调纪律的重要性，无论是对团体或个人，尤其学生加入圣约翰救伤队，除了可以掌握领导能力，参与各项训练课程，加强各项技能以外，还可以扩大交友圈，学习人与人之间相处的技巧，提升团体合作的精神。他提醒，圣约翰救伤队是一个多元文化团队，每个队员都要尊重彼此，互相宽容，最重要就是从中提升自己，严己宽人。“除了学习纪律，学生应该定下自己的目标，清楚自己所走的每一步。”此外，他赞扬古晋中学圣约翰救伤队卓越的服务表现，并希望该校在日后吸纳更多的学生加入圣约翰救伤队，一同学习及进步。(See Hua Daily 14 July 2013) http://www.seehua.com/node/85687

Persatuan St John SMK Kuching High cemerlang dalam bantuan kecemasan

KAMI HEBAT: Pasukan St John SMK Kuching High diketuai lima pegawainya Wee Wei Kong, Bong Sik Soon, Kho Wei Kian, Eric Chong dan Leong Sy Jiann.

KUCHING: Persatuan St John Ambulance SMK Kuching High dan Bahagian Remaja Ketiga Kuching dari sekolah sama mencatat keputusan cemerlang dalam Pertandingan Kejururawatan dan Bantuan Kecemasan St John Ambulance Kuching 2011 apabila memenangi lima daripada enam kategori yang dipertandingkan.

Sekolah itu menjuarai tiga kategori iaitu Kadet Ambulans, Kawat Kaki Terbaik serta Keseragaman Ambulans dan Kejururawatan manakala bahagian remaja memenangi tempat pertama bagi kategori Ambulans Dewasa dan Kejururawatan Dewasa.

Manakala bagi kategori Kadet Kejururawatan dijuarai SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor.

Dua lagi sekolah mengambil bahagian ialah SMK Pending dan SMB Chung Hua No.1. Pertandingan itu diadakan di Ibu Pejabat St John Ambulance Sarawak di Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho dekat sini.

Selain itu SMK Kuching High memenangi tempat ketiga bagi kategori Kadet Ambulans dan Kadet Kejururawatan manakala bahagian dewasanya memperoleh tempat kedua bagi kategori Kejururawatan Dewasa dan tempat ketiga untuk kategori Ambulans Dewasa.

Seramai 90 peserta menyertai pertandingan tahunan dengan setiap pasukan kadet dianggotai pelajar sekolah manakala bahagian dewasa dibentuk oleh bekas-bekas pelajar sekolah berkenaan.

Sementara itu Pengerusi dan Komander St John Ambulance Sarawak Dato Sri Ang Lai Soon dalam ucapan penutupannya berkata penyertaan dalam pertandingan seperti itu harus dilihat sebagai peluang bertemu ahli lain dan mengukuhkan kerjasama berpasukan.

Beliau menambah, dalam St John, setiap anggota perlu bergantung kepada integriti setiap ahlinya dalam menunaikan tanggungjawap masing- masing.

“Integriti anggota adalah batu asas keharmonian persatuan ini. Integriti bermakna mengikut kod etika dan nilai moral yang tinggi, kejujuran, keikhlasan, ketulusan hati dan kebebasan daripada pengaruh mempunyai motif terselindung,” jelasnya.

Ucapan beliau dibaca wakilnya Dr Lee Khoon Siew yang juga pegawai perubatan St John Ambulance Sarawak serta pengerusi jawatankuasa penganjur pertandingan itu.
