ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE ANNUAL REPORT

The St. John Ambulance Brigade has been established for ten years in Kuching High School since 1971. This year we have recruited 38 new members and make up a total of 90.

We hold our weekly meeting every Saturday a 2:00pm at K.H.S. premise. During our weekly meeting our members are given training in First-aid. Foot-drill and other proficiency subjects like road and home safty, fire-fighting, natural history of St. John Ambulance, signalling and so on.

I am happy to say that our members are very keen in carrying out their duties either in or outside the school.

M any activities have been organised. Last year an elementary first-aid examination was held in Kuching General Hospital , conducted by Doctors and Dress­ers, for our members on 17th of August. The fund-raising walkaton was organised by the Headquarters in Kuching. Our division came first in collecting both on di­visional and individual levels. Besides, one of our girls emerged in champion during the walkaton. A certificate presentation ceremony was held at Dewan Tun Razak.

This year, During the 2nd Uniform Units Combine Camp in Matang area, our unit sent out 25 members to take part. A 4-day training camp was organis­ed for our new members in June. A parade presentation of colour on 9th May,, our members had done well in foot-drill and stretcher-drill. In addition, during the flag day in July, our division topped the sale in Sarawak.

I hope that more students will join us in the coming years.

On behalf of the members I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our former Patron Mr. William Ng, our present Patron Mr. Wong, Crop Super­intendent Mr. Poon, advisor Mr. Chan, teacher-in-charge Mr. Yeo, and to all others who have assisted us in one way or another.
